With the advent of
technologically superior CFL in India about a decade ago,
indigenous manufacture also began, and presently there are
five plants with a total approximate output of 10 million
pieces per year.
The CFL, because of
its proven superiority over General Lighting Service (GLS), is
expected to replace them to the extent of 30% to 40% in the
next decade. As replacement grows apace there will be an
urgent demand for very large CFL manufacturing facility in
this decade.
The arrival of the
CFL in 1982 has signified a major event in the industry.
However, general replacement of GLS lamps commenced from 1992,
as the mass production of CFL could be possible by that time.
Besides, there is an enormous, burgeoning export market for
international quality CFL. It is with these facts in mind that
we have set up the newest venture Starlite Lighting Limited.
