Energy saving is the order of the day. Someone has said, "SAVE ENERGY OR PERISH". Saving of electrical energy is in the interest of mankind. Because of increasing demand of commercial and domestic power, users are facing serious problems. We face numerous power cuts and load shedding leading us to heavy losses. We cannot afford to overburden our energy sources like this.

In 1970, lamp manufacturers all over the world concentrated on developing a light source, which would overcome the disadvantages of General Lighting Service Lamps or GLS lamps. Thus CFL was invented as a superior replacement to outclass GLS. In 1980, for the first time, CFL was introduced in the European Market.

Rising sales figures in millions of CFL since 1986 and estimated figures up to 2010 based on a substitution of incandescent lamps 40% (max) and a market share of CFL 20% (max).

With the advent of technologically superior CFL in India about a decade ago, indigenous manufacture also began, and presently there are five plants with a total approximate output of 10 million pieces per year.

The CFL, because of its proven superiority over General Lighting Service (GLS), is expected to replace them to the extent of 30% to 40% in the next decade. As replacement grows apace there will be an urgent demand for very large CFL manufacturing facility in this decade.

The arrival of the CFL in 1982 has signified a major event in the industry. However, general replacement of GLS lamps commenced from 1992, as the mass production of CFL could be possible by that time. Besides, there is an enormous, burgeoning export market for international quality CFL. It is with these facts in mind that we have set up the newest venture Starlite Lighting Limited.
